The Land Transport Information System (or Sistem Pengangkutan Darat – SPD)
is officially launched by the Minister of Communications Pehin Orang Kaya
Seri Kerna Dato Seri Haji Awang Abu Baker bin Haji Apong today.
The SPD system is a collaboration between various government agencies
and key industry representatives such as motor agencies, insurance companies
and financial institutions, providing integration of fragmented activities
and linking the entire nation on all land transport matters. Accordingly,
the SPD System is the first nation-wide Business-to-Government (B2G) e-Government
system in Brunei. Costing approximately BD8 million to develop, SPD consolidates
the current disparate systems into one single platform, providing centralized
information for accurate and updated vehicle records. The new system ensures
improved efficiency in processing of applications and permits.
SUMMARY OF KEY SERVICES AVAILABLE WITH SPD
- Vehicle Type Approval
- Vehicle Registration
- Application and Renewal of Vehicle Licensing
- Application and Renewal Driver Licensing
- Cross Border Permit Applications
- Vehicle Permit Applications
With SPD, queuing at JPD counters to rush vehicle related submissions
such as Vehicle Type Approval or Vehicle Registration before the end of
a working day promises to be a thing of the past. By logging into https://www.pengangkutan-darat.gov.bn,
one can now submit such applications electronically via the Internet at
anywhere and at anytime. This translates into time-saving and productivity
for both business users and government alike.
In addition, the SPD system will link up the Land Transport Department’s
business operation located in Kuala Belait, Tutong, and Temburong with the
headquarter, thereby centralizing all vehicle records regardless of the origin.
With this consolidated view, Land Transport Department looks forward to improving
day-to-day operations and services to its customers.
SYSTEM BENEFITS
- Increase efficiency in issuance of licenses and documents, e.g. driver’s license, vehicle license, vehicle registration book, etc.
- Provide a centralized database for accurate and updated vehicle and drivers records
- Assist traffic law and enforcement for instant online inquiry
- Minimize forgery and fraud
- Increase efficiency in processing of application permits
The services SPD offer over its portal extends to the public. In
the near future, the public can look forward to security-enhanced
Driving License, Vehicle License and Vehicle Registration Book incorporating
high-end
technology such as the Machine Readable Card (MRC) and Machine
Readable Document (MRD), to replace the current bluecard, vehicle license
and driving
license.
