November 3, 2003 – OCTANS™, the Council Management
System from novaMSC was recognized as one of Internet Application
of the Year in prestigious PIKOM-Computimes ICT Awards 2003 at
the PIKOM 15th Annual Dinner and ICT Awards 2003.
OCTANS™ was chosen amongst the finalist in the category of the
Internet Application of the Year. The application software was
selected because of its innovative use of the latest technologies
that offer outstanding solutions to its customers. Highly-steeped
in domain intelligence, OCTANS™ includes modules typical in any
city/town council or local authority such as Planning Permission
(Development Control), Building Control, Land Management, Property
Valuation, etc. OCTANS™ also employs the Internet comprehensively
to facilitate e-submissions and communicate decisions/requests
with external parties.
The awards were presented by the guest of honour
Tuan Yang Terutama Yang Di-Pertua Negeri Pulau Pinang Tun Dato’ Seri
Utama (Dr.) Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji Abbas.
Apt to the evening’s theme of “Flying Colours”,
more than 1000 attendees comprising senior Government officials,
key information and communications technology (ICT) industry players
and captains from various industries witnessed the celebrated evening.
A total of 72 nominees were in the running for the prestigious
PIKOM-Computimes ICT Awards. The number of nominees was narrowed
down to 20 finalists whereby winners of the famed awards would
receive recognition of excellence in their respective categories.
